Simultaneous Analysis of Ascorbic Acid, Uric Acid, and Dopamine at Bare Polystyrene Thermoplastic Electrodes

Simultaneous analysis of ascorbic acid (AA), uric (UA), and dopamine (DA) is desirable as they are important biomarkers that coexist in biological fluids. Electrochemical detection these molecules can be challenging their oxidation peaks poorly resolved at most unmodified electrodes. Modifications typically necessary for which increase cost complicate fabrication. Herein, inexpensive moldable polystyrene thermoplastic electrodes (PS TPEs), used simultaneous AA, DA, UA, without surface modification, were presented. Electrode composition was optimized conductivity, capacitance, electrochemistry. Detection limits 4, 0.9, 4 μm DA UA respectively. PS TPEs also challenged urine; excellent recoveries (90–110 %) seen AA UA. showed lower (82 % 10 47 5 μm), but the future, higher achieved through design considerations further material optimization.
